ISO updates:
The climate change amendment of ISO standards, February 2024
In February 2024, the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) announced a change that affects more than 30 existing Management Systems Standards. Among these standards is as well ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001 and others. Management standards such as IATF 16949® (automotive) and AS9100 (aerospace), which include ISO 9001, are also affected by the change.
The change is regarding the Addition of Climate Change considerations to the Management Systems Standards and it is applied in section "4 Context of the organization" of the standards. By Addition of Climate Change into management systems, ISO aims to empower organizations to proactively address climate-related risks and opportunities and contribute to global sustainability efforts.
The amendments to the ISO standards were published on February 23rd 2024 and the changes are effective immediately. It means that companies need to take the new requirements into account when examining their context and stakeholders.
The new requirements of the standards are as follows:

The following was added to point 4.2: "Note: Relevant stakeholders may have climate change requirements."

Standard ISO 50001:2018
- the Slovak version of STN EN ISO 50001 was issued in February 2020
- the transitional period for accredited certificates from ISO 50001: 2011 to ISO 50001: 2018 was originally set until 20th August 2021. Due to the global outbreak of the COVID19 epidemic, this period is extended by 6 months - until 20th February 2022
